Privacy Policy

Voomcomix ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Voomcomix platform — readers, writers and visitors — and describes how we handle the data you provide to us or that is generated through your use of the platform.

This policy is effective from 2024 and applies to all data collected since the platform was launched. By creating an account or using the platform, you consent to the data practices described here.

When you create a Voomcomix account, we collect the following:

Writers who apply for and receive monetization approval additionally provide:

• Bank account name — for payment processing only.
• Bank account number — for direct payment transfer.
• IFSC code — required for Indian bank transfers.
• UPI ID — optional alternative payment method.

We automatically collect certain data when you use the platform:

• Reading history — which books and chapters you have read, used to personalise your experience.
• Interaction data — books you have liked, followed, bookmarked or reviewed.
• Comments — text you post on chapters, stored as public content.
• Session data — login timestamps used for security purposes.
• Device and browser type — used for platform optimisation only, not for advertising profiling.

Content published by writers — including book text, chapter text, uploaded images and cover photos — is stored on Voomcomix servers. This content remains the intellectual property of the writer (see Terms & Conditions Section 7).

When someone submits a contract application, we collect their full name, email address, the book they are applying for, and the platform/purpose details. This data is used solely for processing the contract application.

We use your data only for the following purposes:

• Account management — creating, verifying and maintaining your account.
• Authentication — secure login, OTP verification and password reset.
• Platform features — enabling reading history, bookmarks, follows, likes, comments and notifications.
• Content delivery — serving books, chapters and images relevant to your preferences.
• Writer payments — processing monthly AdSense earnings and deal revenues to eligible writers.
• Platform communication — sending important account notifications, monetization updates and policy changes.
• Safety and security — detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, policy violations and unauthorised access.
• Platform improvement — understanding how users interact with the platform to improve features.
• Contract processing — facilitating book adaptation agreements between applicants and writers.

Voomcomix uses Supabase (hosted on AWS) as its database and storage provider. All user data, content and files are stored on Supabase's secure infrastructure. Supabase complies with international data protection standards.

• Account data is retained as long as your account is active.
• Published books and chapters are retained permanently — this is part of our content permanence policy (see Terms Section 4.2) to protect readers who have invested time in following a story.
• Bank details are retained only as long as a writer is active in the monetization program. Writers may request removal after ceasing monetization.
• Reading history and interaction data is retained to maintain your personal reading experience. You may request this data be cleared.
• Banned account data is retained for security and legal compliance purposes but the account is permanently deactivated.

All passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Bank details are stored with restricted access — only the payment processing system has access. All data transmission between your browser and Voomcomix is encrypted via HTTPS.

We do not share your personal data with third parties, with the following limited exceptions:

• Payment processing: Bank details are used with banking services to process writer payments. No payment processor receives more information than is necessary to complete the transfer.
• Legal requirements: If required by Indian law or a valid court order, we may disclose necessary data to competent authorities.
• Supabase infrastructure: Your data is hosted on Supabase servers as our infrastructure provider. Supabase operates under strict data processing agreements.
• Contract applicants: When a contract application is submitted, the writer of the relevant book is informed of the applicant's name, email and purpose. No other personal data is shared.

Voomcomix uses minimal cookies and browser local storage only for the following essential purposes:

• Authentication session: Keeping you logged in securely between browser sessions.
• Reading preferences: Remembering your theme or display settings.
• Recent reading progress: Tracking your position in a chapter for a seamless reading experience.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. You may clear cookies at any time through your browser settings. Clearing cookies will log you out of the platform.

Voomcomix is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 years of age.

• Users must confirm they are at least 13 years old during account creation.
• 18+ content is restricted to users who confirm they are 18 or above.
• If we become aware that a user under 13 has created an account, we will delete the account and all associated data promptly.
• Parents or guardians who believe their child has created an account may contact us at help@voomcomix.in for immediate action.

You have the following rights regarding your personal data on Voomcomix:

• Right to access: You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
• Right to correction: You may update your account information at any time from your dashboard Settings.
• Right to deletion: You may request deletion of your personal account data. Note: published books and chapters cannot be deleted as per our content permanence policy.
• Right to data portability: You may request an export of your personal data in a readable format.
• Right to withdraw consent: You may close your account at any time. Closing your account will deactivate it and anonymise your personal data.
• Right to object: You may object to any processing of your data that you believe is not in compliance with this policy.

We take the security of your data seriously and implement the following measures:

• HTTPS encryption on all data transmitted between your device and our servers.
• Bcrypt password hashing — passwords are never stored in plain text.
• Row-Level Security (RLS) on our database — users can only access data they are authorised to see.
• OTP email verification required for all new accounts.
• Secure session management — sessions expire automatically after a period of inactivity.
• Restricted bank data access — financial details are accessible only to the payment processing system.

Despite these measures, no internet service can guarantee 100% security. We encourage users to use strong, unique passwords and to report any suspected security issues to help@voomcomix.in immediately.

Voomcomix may contain links to external websites — such as social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest) or external resources referenced by writers in their content. These external websites have their own privacy policies and Voomcomix is not responsible for their content or data practices.

We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external website you visit from a link on Voomcomix.

Voomcomix may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will notify registered users via the platform's "Let's Update" section and via email.

The date of the most recent update is always shown at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
